Nestled in the heart of Uckfield, East Sussex, for over 250 years, Carvills Furnishings isn't just a home furnishings store. It's a legacy. We're a family run business that has been helping people furnish their homes in Sussex and beyond for the duration of those years. Originally based in Lewes, we are now the longest established shop in Uckfield.

Meet the Team

Mark Arno

Mark is Carvills managing director and has been part of the Carvills team for over 35 years, during that time he has been involved in all aspects of the business allowing him to build a knowledge of both the design and retail sides of the business.

For most of this time Mark and his wife Heidi together with his brother Richard have combined their energies to bring that enthusiasm and drive that comes from being part of a family business.

As well as involvement in the day to day running of Carvills his passion is helping clients in their own homes achieve the look that they are after, discussing and finding the right solution and treatment combining aesthetics with practicality never ceases to be an exciting challenge.

Outside the world of Carvills Mark loves to be outdoors ideally in the countryside up a hill or mountain and if that can be combined with being on some form of bicycle all the better. He is also an occasional runner and winter sports enthusiast.

Richard Arno

Richard is a Director and has been with Carvills for 27 years. His lifelong joy of constructing and solving technical complications have led to him becoming a fastidious asset to the Carvills' team with an encyclopaedic knowledge of all aspects of furnishing installations. The main driver behind his passion is ensuring that all clients receive great customer service with a beautiful end result.

Richard is married to Kitty and they have a daughter, Robyn, and a springer spaniel called Hector. He is never happier than when on his mountain bike or doing up/improving his house

Lorna

Lorna has worked her way up through the Carvills team and has been with the business for more than 20 years, learning all aspects of what we do so that she has a broad knowledge of both the retail and design side of the business.

This has culminated into her becoming our shop manager. In addition to these responsibilities for overseeing the day to day running of the shop she has also taken on the role of our chief buyer making her responsible for the selection and buying of new products for the shop while also planning and organising all displays within the shop and shop windows.

Angela

Angela is our “go to” expert when it comes to fabrics, wallpapers and trimmings.

A combination of her vast product knowledge coupled with a flair and enthusiasm to make sure that our clients get the look that is right for them and their home means she is always in demand and is an invaluable part of our team.

Heather

Heather started working at Carvills primarily within the shop and though still regularly called upon to be in the showroom her aptitude for organisation and strong customer service skills has meant that she has very much found her niche in taking on a more administrative role.

Debbie

Debbie's role has grown from being principally in sales when she joined us to one where she has now taken on the key position as our lead merchandiser within the shop, liaising with Lorna and coming up with ideas for displays in the shop and in the windows.

She is very organised and relishes getting and keeping things tidy (not a quality we all possess!!).

She is also our "lampshade queen" so if you are looking to recover an existing shade or have a new custom shade made up, she is the person to speak to.

In her spare time, between tidying and cleaning at home, Debbie can often be found enjoying a large glass of Prosecco or a G&T… or two!

Grace

Grace is usually found in the shop, ready to greet you with her upbeat and positive character.

In addition to her role in the shop Grace maintains our social media profile, of which she has a great flare for.

Grace is a key member of the Carvills team, always keen to help and take on new challenges.

If Grace isn’t at Carvills, you will most likely find her at the pub with friends!

Dani

Dani has been a part of the Carvills team for over 15 years, therefore she has a broad knowledge of the different aspects of the business.

Dani is involved in many different areas day to day including her customer service and sales, her enthusiasm for fabrics has lead her in the direction recently of working on the design side of Carvills.

She is known for her people skills, and she is always willing to go the extra mile to help customers.

Dani keeps all the team happy as she makes a great cup of tea!
